Dear friends
It is 8pm here in Hakusan! That is 8 hours ahead of you folks in the UK. We have now arrived in Hakusan after a short journey of a mere 27 hours! First we travelled from Boston by minibus (Thank you to Lee and Duncan) and had an 11 hour flight to Tokyo. We then travelled by coach from Narita airport to Haneda airport where we had a few hours to wait before getting the connecting flight to Kumatsu. It took no time at all to collect our suitcases (yes, all of them). Yutaka, Yuse, Ayaka and other staff from the council were there to meet us and drive us to the Crane centre where the Japanese host parents and were waiting to meet us and take us to their homes. There were a few short speeches of welcome and then we were off to the homes of our hosts.
We were all pretty sleeply and at various points during the journey, on aircraft, departure lounges etc we snatched some sleep but we were all in various stages of sleep deprivation by 9am UK time which was when we got to the Crane centre. Nevertheless we were all in remarkably good spirits and it was a delight to be with such a wonderful group. Tomorrow events begin at 12am with agame at Marayama park and luch provided by the host families. See pictures! So far everything has gone very smoothly and it is great to be in Hakusan.
