Today we went to Mikawa Junior High School. The exchange orginally started Mikawa and so this school has the most history of all our visits. They have a big display cabinet with all the various gifts they have recieved from Boston in the past and they value their friendship with our schools in Boston.
The students were split into 5 groups and experienced a vareity of lessons, Fine art, Music, Caligraphy, English, Science and PE. It was great to see how much the teachers had planned the lessons with the English students in mind. The students behaved very well and were a credit to our town.
The school did Fish and Chips for lunch which was different. They hadn`t planned on the children cleaning with the japanese students. I however, felt that this is part of the Japanese school life and is actually fun as everyone mucks in. So arranged for them to do this. Dunno if the children know they didn`t have to yet but they will find out!
Not to cause alarm, I don`t know if the news has hit the UK but Japan has a typhoon. We are not directly in the way, the edge is passing by which has ment wind and rain. It has been a god send to be honest. The wind really helps with the heat.
The last 2 days were family days and so I haven`t seen the students until today. It was a relief to see how happy everyone was. They all had done lots of things over the long weekend with their families and everyone is having a go at everything. So far so good. .
Tomorrow we go to a primary school, then meet the mayor, then the children go to Taiko, I am off to buy Bullet train tickets. Hope you enjoy the pics.
