First Day

Today has been a fantastic day.  The students and host familes all met up and went up the mountain.  Whilst there we had an indoor BBQ, this is very popular in Japan and something I think most people would enjoy.  Then we planted trees together outside, due to the scorching heat we were not outside long, it was 37  this morning getting slightly hotter by midday.  I don`t think the students or indeed myself expected this sort of heat.  We have checked all the children are wearing sun cream but we are mainly inside.  In the afternoon we went to the local school where the students and families played games in the sports hall. Hats off to anyone who can play sport in this heat.  I have spoken to everyone and they are all having a good time, with as usual the best topic of conversation being how strange and cool the toilets are!  I was very lucky today as my host took me early and had booked for me to do a tandem paraglide.  Incredible way to view Hakusan.  I haven`t got many pictures at the minute, Fi has a lot more. I will upload more as I get them.
